Missing activist Ndiangui Kinyagia is alive and in hiding for fear of his life, family lawyer Wahome Thuku has confirmed.

Kinyagia, who  disappeared on June 24, contacted his family from an undisclosed location and assured them he was well and healthy, Thuku noted in a statement.

“Ndiangui explained to a family member that he went into hiding after learning that officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) were looking for him over unknown criminal allegations,” Thuku added.

He said Kinyagia has agreed to present himself to the DCI once his safety and security are guaranteed.

Thuku advised Kinyagia to appear before the High Court at Milimani on Thursday, July 3.

The lawyer has reached out to the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) for analysis and to arrange representation in court.

Kinyagia, 35, an information technology expert and blogger behind the X account Daguin Dd, was reported missing after mobilising online support for the Wednesday, June 25, Generation Z (Gen Z) protests.

Family members earlier reported that individuals linked to the DCI broke into Kinyagia’s house while he was away and took several items.
