The Kilifi County government has started opening up and upgrading beach access roads as one way of boosting investor confidence in the area.

County officials, led by the Malindi Sub-County Administrator Dadu Chome and the director of roads in Kilifi County, Elvis Dulu, said that the projects will be undertaken in wards along the coastline as well as those in the rural areas.

They spoke during the handover of a 900-metre road project being built for Sh25 million for the Kilifi county assembly speaker’s residence in Mayungu area in Malindi Sub-County to a contractor to upgrade it to cabro standards.

Dadu urged the contractor to ensure the road was done up to standards, adding that the project would also enhance property prices in the area, hence creating competition for resources.

Dulu, on his part, said that the project will take three weeks to complete, and it will open up beach properties for massive investments.

Shella Ward, Member of County Assembly (MCA), Twahir Abdulkarim, urged residents to support the Governor Gideon Mung’aro-led administration since many development projects were being initiated to change the face of Kilifi County and position it as an investor destination in Kenya.
