The government has released Sh4.6 billion meant for beneficiaries covered under the Inua Jamii programme.

According to Labour and Social Protection Principal Secretary Joseph Motari,  the delay in disbursement of the payments was due to a data clean-up exercise.

The PS said, “The state department for social protection has released Sh 4,607,668,000 for payment to 1, 1151,917 older persons and persons living with severe disabilities enrolled in the Inua Jamii program.’’

The disbursement covers stipends for both June and July 2025 payment cycles. Each beneficiary is expected to receive Sh 4,000 paid in two instalments of Sh2, 000 per month, starting today.

Speaking during a press briefing in Nairobi, PS Motari said the program aims to alleviate poverty and promote the well-being of the vulnerable and the elderly in society.

In May,  the Government released Sh3.51 billion for the Inua Jamii cash transfer programme and Sh3.52 billion for April.
