The Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS) in Haiti has identified Corporal Kennedy Mutuku Nzuve as the Kenyan officer who died in a road accident on Sunday.
Nzuve, a member of Kenya’s third contingent to the mission, was pronounced dead on arrival at Lambert Sante Hospital in Petion-Ville after the accident on the Kenscoff–Petion-Ville road at Perlerin 9, during a recovery operation.
The officer died aged 41.
Authorities have confirmed his remains were flown to the Dominican Republic for preservation, before being repatriated to Kenya.

Born in Machakos County in 1984, Nzuve joined the National Police Service in 2005 and later served with the Rapid Deployment Unit, working in Narok and Baringo counties before his final posting to Haiti.
“Over the years, he served with distinction in various parts of Kenya before taking up his final mission in Haiti,” MSS said in a statement, adding: “our thoughts and prayers are with Corporal Nzuve’s family, friends, and colleagues as they grieve this profound loss.”
On Monday, the multi-national security mission held a special service in his honor, attended by personnel from Kenya, the Bahamas, Jamaica, El Salvador, Guatemala, and partner organisations including DMG, Amentum, Aspen, and GardaWorld.
MSS also wished a speedy recovery to other officers injured in the accident, who are reported to be out of danger.
The National Police Service (NPS) confirmed Nzuve’s death in a separate statement, noting the accident occurred at around 2am GMT on August 31.
