The 1950s were a rollercoaster for political prisoner Ramogi Achieng Oneko. Although he was released from prison in 1954 unlike his counterparts, Oneko was later confined in Lamu after he refused to confess he was part of the Mau Mau. Without his family and subsistence allowance of sh100, Oneko continued to deny any links with Mau Mau. This is the story of why the State paid Achieng sh100 monthly for violation of rights.
